Day 4 Walking it Out
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." 2 Corinthians 5:17
Reflection:
Believing you're a new creation is one thing. Walking like one is another. It's easy to nod along with the truth on a quiet morning and then, an hour later, slip right back into the old reflexes — the same defensiveness, the same self-doubt, the same reach for whatever used to numb the pain. Identity doesn't change behavior automatically. It has to be practiced.
That's not a contradiction of grace — it's the shape grace takes in real life. You're not earning the new creation by acting differently; you're simply becoming, in your choices, what's already true of you underneath. Every time you choose patience over the old temper, honesty over the old hiding, hope over the old despair, you're not performing for God. You're agreeing with Him about who you already are.
Reflection Question:
What's one small, concrete choice today where you could act like the new creation you already are, instead of defaulting to an old pattern?
Prayer:
Lord, You've already made me new — teach me to live like it. In the small moments today, help my choices catch up to my identity. Give me eyes to see where I'm defaulting to the old, and courage to choose the new.
(Pray this in your own words and from your heart)
